About Me

San Francisco Therapist Victoria WhismanI approach therapy collaboratively. I believe that together we can come up with a treatment plan that feels right for you.

Sometimes what works best for people is on-going weekly therapy that is more open ended, leaving room to explore all aspects of a person’s life.

Alternatively, some people come to therapy with a set agenda and very specific goals. Together we discuss your needs and shape how the work will be for you.

My style is warm and interactive. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to feel comfortable to explore your fears, successes, deepest desires and disappointments.

I am influenced by a variety of modalities including psychodynamic, relational, experiential, transpersonal, mindfulness and cognitive therapy.

I received a Masters in Counseling Psychology at California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS). My training includes work with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. I have worked at the Integral Counseling Center, Private Practice in Daly City, The Boys and Girls Home Shelter (CYO) and The Marina Counseling Center.

After working with me, people have shared they are more in touch with what they want:

  • They are better able to set boundaries
  • Have a better understanding of themselves
  • Have more compassion for themselves
  • Have a deeper sense of knowing and trust
  • Feel more balance between the emotional world and the practical world
  • Are better able to tolerate and understand their emotions
  • Manage their anxiety
  • Understand their depression
  • Understand family patterns and how they influence present choices
